Albert Trapani

Albert Trapani, 97, of Durham Road, Wallingford, husband of the late Jean Ellen LaBrake Trapani, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Masonicare Health Center of Wallingford, CT.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, October 27, 1912, a son of the late George and Vincenzina Bucalo Trapani, he had been a Wallingford resident since 1959. He was a graduate of Blair Academy of Blairstown, New Jersey and St. John's University in Brooklyn, NY, earning a five year degree in pharmacology. Major Trapani was a veteran of the U. S. Army as part of Gen. George S. Patton Jr.'s 3rd Army in the European Theater during WWII and later in the Connecticut State Guard Reserve for a total of 21 years of service. His medals include a Purple Heart for the combat wounded. He was a member of the American Legion Shaw Sinon Post No. 73 in Wallingford and a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.
He had been employed with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Division of Tolls prior to his retirement. Mr. Trapani loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and beekeeper, and a member of the Connecticut Beekeepers Association.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean-Ellen Margaret Trapani of Westport; his son Albert George Trapani and his granddaughter, Veronica Rose Trapani, both of Wallingford; his sister, Vida M. (Mrs. George) Burdge of Blairstown, NJ., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Vincent Trapani and Joseph Trapani of Blairstown, NJ, and John Trapani of San Jose, CA.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, on Thursday (TODAY) from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, at 10:30 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N. Colony St., Wallingford. Interment, with military honors will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
