#59 Marriage of Giorgio Nobile and Serafina Occhipinti February 24, 1885
1885, the 24th of February at the hour of 11:20am in the town hall of Ragusa, before Giovanni Cartia, Mayor and official of the vital records office appeared Giorgio Nobile, widower of Strenna Battaglia (not sure of spelling of first name), 61, farmer, born in this town, resident of Ragusa Inferiore, son of the late Luigi, a farmer and the late Carmela Di Stefano; and also appeared Serafina Occhipinti, single, 37, seamstress, born in this town, resident of same, daughter of Giuseppe, a picker and Giovanna Di Stefano, both of this town, and they have asked to be united in marriage. To this effect I have been presented the documents described below; the marriage banns were posted, and all documents inserted into the register of the attachments of this register, and with no opposition to the celebration of their marriage, I read to them the civil code and asked the groom if he takes for his wife Serafina Occhipinti; and I asked the bride if she takes for her husband Giorgio Nobile, and having received their positive response, and before the witnesses listed below, I have pronounced them united in marriage. Witnesses to this testimony are Biagio Laparelli, 73, shoemaker and Giovanni Iacono, 62, blacksmith. Marriage banns were posted in this town and in Ragusa Inferiore, the first on the 8th and the second on the 15th of February.
