Browning (nee McAvena), 85, of Elyria, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. Mrs. Browning was born November 3, 1929 in Elyria and lived here all of her life. She was retired from Hess & Hess Pharmacy, Elyria. A member of St. Jude Catholic Church, she enjoyed crocheting afghans, spending time with her children and traveling. She loved her animals and the Cleveland Browns. She is survived by her husband, her high school sweetheart, Bruce R. Browning, to whom she was married for 66 years; children, Timothy (Leslie) Browning of North Ridgeville, Lynnette Willis of Millersburg, Christopher (LuAnn) Browning of Smithfield, Utah, Michael Browning of Odessa, Texas, Colleen (Michael) Lapos of Sheffield Village and Kathleen Gates of Elyria; eight grandchildren, Robert Bruce Willis, Rebecca Goodban, Bradley Browning, Elizabeth Young, Jeffery Browning, Louis Lapos, Christa Browning and Morgan Lapos; five great-grandchildren and nieces, Kathleen Barney of Grafton and Rosemary Myers of Elyria. Mrs. Browning was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Young Browning in 2006 and her parents, Stanley and Katherine McAvena. Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, with The Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, officiating.
