#51 Birth of Andrea Vigilante About December 23, 1862
Province of Bari, District of Altamera, Comune di Gioia, Record of Birth of a foundling
1862, the 24th of December at the hour of 16 before Vito Prisciantelli, official of the vital records office of Gioia, #51, appeared Vita Saveria Montenegro, wife of Oronzo Mele, sick for several days, age 32, occupation (?), resident of Gioia, strada Palude, and she declares that at about the hour of 12 on the 24th of December, put behind her home by an unknown person, was a baby boy wrapped in four clothes of turquoise color, without a sign or letter upon his body and of about one day old. The official of the vital records office have visited the child in the presence of the declarant and have seen the aforementioned male child, wrapped in the clothes, and of the age about a day. We have therefore exposed the child to the Commission of Hosts (?) and given the child the name Andrea Vigilante. Witnesses to this testimony are Don Vitantonio Girotti, age 38, civil, of Gioia, and Giovanni Montanaro, 60, property owner, both of Gioia. He was baptized on the 24th of December.

#23 Marriage of Andrea Albanese and Dorotea Angelillo February 9, 1891
1891, the 9th of February at the hour of 11:15am in the town hall of Gioia dal Colle before Leonardo Princiantelli, official of the vital records office appeared Andrea Albanese, 27, barber, born in this town, resident of same, son of an unknown father and the late Teresa Albanese; and also appeared Dorotea Angelillo, 23, spinner, born in this town, resident of same, daughter of Francesco and Caterina Surico, and they have asked to be united in marriage. To this effect I have been presented the documents described below; the marriage banns were posted, and all documents inserted into the register of the attachments of this register, and with no opposition to the celebration of their marriage, I read to them the civil code and asked the groom if he takes for his wife Dorotea Angelillo; and I asked the bride if she takes for her husband Andrea Albanese, and having received their positive response, and before the witnesses listed below, I have pronounced them united in marriage. Witnesses to this testimony are Giuseppe Celiberti, 40, carpenter and Lonardo Addabbo, 21, carpenter. Banns were posted on the 28th of September and the 5th of October last year. Note signature of Andrea Albanese on record.
