Notes - Simone Saso, 84, of Highland, NY, passed away with his family by his side on May 13, 2023. He was born on January 27, 1939 in Highland, NY to the late Mary and Gaetano Saso. On July 16, 1961, he married Ruth Ann Baker, who predeceased him. He is survived by his son, Greg Saso and his wife, Mary Beth; sister, Isabel Casabura (James);
and sister-in-law, Jerianne Saso. He is predeceased by his brother, Charlie and sister, Prudy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Katharine Orefice (Michael) and Gregory, Jr. (Kimberly), two beautiful great grandchildren- Aiden and Brody Orefice, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition, Simone is survived by his loving
partner, Marianne Consiglio, of New Paltz. She was by his side constantly and gave him many, many happy years. Susan Salanitri, Marianne’s daughter, was a very special person in Simone’s life, also. The Saso Family will be eternally grateful for their loving and dedicated presence in his life until the very end.
“Cy” was a graduate of Highland High School and worked for over 30 years at Grand Union grocery stores. He loved his years there. He was a bookkeeper for his son’s business until recently, also. In his early years, he loved any outdoor activities from cutting wood to fishing to hunting. In later years, he and Marianne enjoyed cruising, the casinos, dining at various restaurants in the Hudson Valley, and just being together.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, May 19th, 4-8 PM at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St. Highland, NY 12528. Service will take place Saturday, May 20th, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Lloyd in Highland.
